Services: Provides psychotherapy, consultation, and psychodiagnostic assessment (psychological testing) to adults, couples, families, adolescents and children. Specialist in clinical and forensic psychology; experienced with personality disorders and other difficult clinical populations, substance abuse, and forensic and systems issues. Experienced in forensic consultation, court-supervised treatment and expert testimony in hundreds of cases with emphasis in family law and juvenile cases, Penal Code evaluations, substance abuse and correctional health care. Duties: Provide detailed forensic evaluations of more than 1,800 mentally disordered state prisoners, including sex offenders, pursuant to the provisions of Penal Code Section 2962. Consult with and advise psychologists and psychiatrists providing other PC 2962 evaluations (role continued via contract to present). Support findings in Court and Board of Parole Hearings trials and hearings as required. Experience in consultation with DMH and other Departments and professional groups regarding development and implementation of Title 22, CCR regulations pertaining to Correctional Treatment Centers, and outpatient treatment of Youth Authority wards. Programs Supervisor, Detention Facilities Mental Health and Substance Abuse Programs, Health Services Department, Contra Costa County, California, November, 1979 to April, 1987.
Duties: Clinical and administrative supervisor of programs consisting of a multidisciplinary team of 14 staff members including an assistant supervisor, psychiatrists, mental health treatment specialists, interns, and clerical staff. Programmatic goals included identification, assessment, treatment, case management, and placement of mentally disordered offenders. Several key program elements recognized nationally as innovative, including the Ambulatory Classification System and the Jail Mental Health Reentry Project. Substance abuse component provided assessment, crisis counseling, placement/referral and methadone treatment to inmate populations. Administrative duties included primary budgetary responsibility, program planning, development, and implementation, personnel functions, clinical and administrative supervision, and consultation to County and State planning, administrative, legislative, and policy-making entities. Acted as interim supervisor and consultant to County outpatient program for judicially committed mentally disordered offenders (AB1229/CONREP).
