My Practice:
With distinguished professional credentials and over 25 years in practice helping people overcome life's challenges, I understand the issues you face and can offer you guidance, support, and hope. I have the expertise to help you and your family with a wide range of short and long-term goals, including reducing stress and resolving conflict, improving communication and intimacy, and healing from loss and emotional suffering. With compassion and respect, I will help you address your troubles, identify your obstacles, and develop the strength and courage you need to overcome them.
I have an open-minded, flexible approach and a warm, interactive professional style, and will collaborate with you to create goals and design strategies to best meet your individual needs. Drawing from extensive training and seasoned clinical skills, I incorporate traditional psychoanalytic theory with practical, state of the art techniques to provide you with the best care. I advocate biopsychosocial strategies: cognitive behavioral and mindfulness techniques, mind/body health, and spirituality. Sometimes I work with my therapy dog, a very loving and attuned Golden Retriever named Luna.
I am invested in your therapy and strive to help you develop the insight and resources you need to reach your objectives. Together, we will work to increase your resilience, mind/body health, and to create the changes you desire to improve your life.
While I don't accept any insurance, I will provide an invoice for you to submit if you have a PPO insurance plan. Please visit my webpage to learn more about my practice and office policies and see how much I can help you: www.drgoldbergboltz.net.
Training, Professional Experience, and Awards:
I completed my B.S. at U.C. Berkeley with High Honors in 1981, and my Ph.D. at California School of Professional Psychology, L.A, in 1986.
I trained in a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient clinical settings to understand the full spectrum of psychological functioning, mental illness, and its treatments. This included a full-time APA internship at Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health Center, working with family systems, crisis intervention, incest, and sexual abuse. My dissertation explored self-esteem and family boundaries.
After earning my Ph.D., I completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Reiss-Davis Child Study Center, specializing in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychological assessment. During that time I also worked as a psychological assistant cultivating a private practice in Beverly Hills, CA.
I moved to the Bay Area in 1989 and became the Staff Psychologist/Director of Training at Children's Hospital, San Francisco, Adolescent Intensive Residential program, where I provided patient care, supervision, and developed a cohesive psychoanalytic psychology internship program.
In 1989, I opened a practice in Walnut Creek, specializing in child, adolescent, adult and family diagnostics and psychotherapy. Thanks to the confidence of referring physicians and colleagues and the wonderful patients with whom I have had the privilege of working, the practice continues to flourish and evolve over time.
