Biography
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of clinical experience providing psychotherapy to individuals of all ages. I provide counseling and therapy to children, teens/adolescents and adults throughout Contra Costa and Alameda counties.
My goal is to help children, teens and adults feel safe, understood, and successful in the process of therapy.
Many people benefit from brief therapeutic interventions to better cope with difficult situations. Often a combination of support, genuine listening and strategic discussions can provide individuals with new tools to deal with their particular situation. Others prefer and/or benefit from longer term, insight oriented or interpersonal psychotherapy.
My belief is that therapy must be individualized for every client. For younger children, I generally use play therapy techniques. Older children and teens tend to benefit from multiple modalities of psychotherapy, including skill building and problem solving techniques or creativity-based types of interventions. Adults may prefer a solution focused approach, learning cognitive behavioral strategies, and/or a more in-depth, insight-oriented approach.
My clinical experience includes therapy and evaluation of children, teens and adults, in my Walnut Creek-based private practice and in a variety of other settings. These have included community mental health centers, schools, medical settings and acute psychiatric care facilities. I have provided psychological and neuropsychological testing for children, teens and adults, and group therapy in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I also have extensive experience evaluating and treating clients with neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric difficulties, such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, Tic/Tourette's disorder(s) and other related developmental difficulties, such as ADHD.
