Workshop Description

When working with clients from historically marginalized identities, anxiety may be a normative response to an oppressive system. Research has demonstrated that systems of oppression have a deleterious effect on mental and physical health, which contribute to health disparities and disproportionality adverse outcomes. Anti-oppressive therapeutic practices may be helpful in alleviating suffering and allowing clients to navigate anxiety disorders in an empowering manner.

This interactive workshop will expand the participants’ understanding of how systems of oppression contribute to the development and maintenance of anxiety disorders. The ultimate goal of this workshop is to provide practical and actionable tools that will assist in healing from an anti-oppressive lens within an engaging, non-judgmental space.   This is an introductory guide appropriate for all levels of training and experience.
